Wow---I am a total Pergo convert! Have a teeny 1,200 sq ft home with two active dogs and to make things worse, I am a total clutz. I needed something that would hold up to direct sunlight, puppy accidents and my own challenges of being clutzy and dropping things. I was concerned about the cheesy-ness variable of laminate floors...they look fake and they sound fake. Did lots of research and determined I would take a chance with the Pergo flooring and I loved the Vermont Maple. The smartest decision I ever made! Within 24 hours of installation, I dropped a dish in the kitchen that shattered, but no scratches or dents on the floor. One of my pups had an accident I didn't catch immediately, but clean-up was easy and no bubbling, peeling, etc. The floor looks amazing and people are surprised to find out it is laminate. I do have to admit, it still sounds a little like laminate flooring, but I can live with that! Highly recommend this product. Had HD do the installation and the crew did an outstanding job. Pups do slip a bit so I placed area rugs in strategic places to help them out.

We've had approx 1000 sq ft of this flooring installed for about 3 months. Its in our living room, bedrooms, dining room and kitchen. Scratch resistance is amazing. We have kids and pets and the surface is great at resisting scratching from dog feet, moving furniture, rowdy kid activities, etc. Water resistance is terrible. Very small amounts of moisture cause edges to swell and curl. My 6 yr old took a shower and left her damp (not wet) towel on the floor for less than 2 hours. Edges of flooring swelled where towel had been. Larger wet accidents (dog barf, spilled cereal, tracked in moisture from rainy days, etc) quickly cause swelled edges. Very frustrating to have spent so much money on a product that can be damaged so easily by common household occurrences. We've had less expensive laminate floors in the past that did not perform this badly with moisture. I would not buy this product again.

I have used other laminate flooring brands, and Pergo is absolutely the best. The finish is outstanding and the locking system is afr better than most. I installed this in a 5' x 10' walk-in closet. I put down 3/8" underlayment with a vapor barrier between the underlayment and the 1 1/4" plywood subfloor. That gave me an absolutely smooth and even surface. I also removed the baseboard first and then re-installed it after the closet units were installed. There was a good deal of hand work because of the crawl space access hatch that had to be constructed and framed to match, but it all worked out really well. Would definitely recommend Pergo as the quality leader.

Nice quality flooring and look. Unfortunately the locking mechanism on ends is horrible. The ends have a plastic piece that is supposed to lock into a groove on the opposite plank. Instead of locking firmly in place it actually prevents the ends from lock evenly. You have to spend a lot of time messing around with the plastic piece in order to get it to click in place properly. I was only doing a small area and it took me forever to get it right-its very frustrating. I looked on YouTube and there are many videos of other people having the same problem with this type of laminate from Pergo. Very disappointed with this product, to say the least

Beautiful, warm color and looks like a wood floor
After I got the hang of laying the rows, it was a pleasure to install. The hardest part of the installation was locking in all the planks in the row. And contrary to some youtube videos...you don't use a hammer. I watched the official Pergo videos over and over and consulted with the Home Depot floor experts to get the real scoop. I made my own video but haven't posted it yet. Lifting the full row and connecting the tongue and groove took some time to get the hang of it. But now I'm a Pergo expert.
I used a miter saw to cut the planks and a handheld jigsaw to cut the odd pieces around the closet openings. My husband cut the first rows on a table saw as they were less than a full width. I laid the planks in a 1/3, 2/3, and full plank pattern and that was much easier than random lengths. Haven't put the baseboards back on yet but it looks fantastic.
I did 3 bedrooms and averaged about 2 boxes per hour (16 planks). That's roughly 25 square feet per hour. The smaller bedrooms took me about 6 hours each and the master bedroom took me 10 hours.
I love the look of the planks - the texture and beveled edge gives them a real wood appearance.

We put it in the office as an experiment. To choose between it and carpet. The 11' by 10' room was done in 3 hours. An hour later we decided to do the rest of the house in the Pergo. Can't wait to get rid of carpeting after 40 years of constant replacing and cleaning. Looking delivery in two weeks.
