Wonderful alternative to oak flooring!
We had our flooring installed today and we love it! It completely changed the look (and value) of our house. Home Depot has been great through the whole process. I ordered online with the help of a flooring specialist who was in the store. The problem we did have was only with the shipping company. They lost the shipment and then gave both Home Depot and myself the runaround, but Home Depot dealt with them and made up for the delay (which, again, wasn't their fault). We did the demo of the old floor and had Home Depot's installers do their work, which turned out great and they finished in one day when they were scheduled for two. The coloring of the Haley Oak seems to match other oak furniture well. We were worried that the door frames, window sills, and cabinets would clash, but Haley Oak works. It has a beautiful contrast as well. All around I'm pretty happy! Pictures below are from today. I will be doing the molding myself, so that is unfinished in the pictures.

My wife and I installed this together and our marriage remains intact. In other words, the installation is not that hard. We made several wrong cuts at first and marred the laminate on a few planks when we tapped them them together but we got the hang of it and things went fairly smoothly. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS especially overbuying by 10%. There is going to be some waste when you cut an end off a plank that you can't use on the other end of the run. TAKE YOUR TIME: My wife took the time in between runs to lay out our next run. Even though you stagger the ends of the planks the pattern on the planks can make it look like the ends of two boards are lined up. BUY THE INSTALL KIT: It really helps to have the right tools...they work because they are made for this job and this job alone.
We have only had the floor installed for a week so I can't speak to the durability. But I can tell you this, it's hard to tell the difference between the Pergo and the real hardwood in the rest of the house. If you examine it, you can tell but if someone just walks into our house it looks like hardwood throughout. It helps that we were able to match the Pergo color and board width with the original hardwood that was installed in 1937.

This flooring is absolute crap!!! The "drop-in" locking system is useless, and I found myself having to slide but-ends together and even re-adjusting the plastic alignment tongue to match the surface height.
I have laid several laminate flooring projects, and this product by far, is the worst design ever!
There were several boards fresh out of the unopened packages that were chipped and/or damaged, and even one board that had cut marks in it! A bad indication when the first order of business in the installation guide says to "inspect each plank" :-(

This flooring is the closest you will come to "real wood" appearance short of using real wood, and it has several advantages over the real thing: It is very hard to scratch or mar, and it is amazingly resistant to water (I had a dishwasher leak that left a puddle for a couple days and there was absolutely no wrinkling or puckering up at the seams of the Pergo!). I don't have pets but I am sure it would not be damaged by pet "accidents" either. The pieces are precisely formed so that they lock together securely and the seams are nice and tight. Two recommendations to an installer: (1) buy the accessory tools for tapping the pieces together. DON'T hammer on the tongue-and-groove edges; (2) Before installing each piece, check that there is no debris in the tongue-and-groove edge, otherwise the pieces won't fit tightly together. If a small bit of a tongue chips off or breaks, remove the broken part but you can still use the piece - the pieces will still fit together.Where it is necessary to cut pieces (such as at the end of a row or to narrow the last-installed row at the wall) use a sharp relatively fine-toothed blade and position the Pergo so that the blade teeth are cutting downward into the finished side. This will minimize visible chipping of the edge. This material looks great, is very easy to clean, doesn't ever need waxing, and wears like iron. Since it doesn't get glued down, it can be installed over existing flooring (even tile), as long as the existing flooring is dry, sound, and flat.

The product is great when manufactured correctly and easy to install however, I purchased 46 boxes and 10 boxes into the stack I have one whole box of tiles with manufacturing defects. There is 1" on the ends without finish and some sort of machine marks. These tiles are not useable and at $44 per box this is unacceptable and I have 36 more boxes to check. As soon as I have them all sorted out I will return the defects to Home Depot.

The PergoXP Oak that I purchased was beautiful and in the hands of a professional installer is most likely a good choice. I however decided to install it myself and at 75 years of age it was almost impossible. You must be able to get right down close in order to snap click the interlocking pieces..

Maybe one of the few laminates that excel at performing like real hardwood floors but at a much better cost than hardwood. We installed our Haley Oak on top of floor-muffler underlayment which is likely one of the reasons the floor feels so solid and is more quiet than our prior laminate floor.

Although the quality is on point, the color and design is wayyyy off!! The photo and the sample in the store had a golden hue, I came home and the contractor already put the flooring down. It’s too light and it has too many pine knots all over it. I should have taken a second look at it...
