The Made2Match floor vent is a real classy way to finish a tile job as it sits flush with the finished tile floor. It looks much better than a plastic drop-in floor register speed-bumps you can buy at the store. It is made from the same MSI Montauk Black Slate that you can buy at Home Depot and matched my tile perfectly. This vent cover tile is nicely machined and bonded to a sheet of steel for added strength. It is exactly 5x11 as described, but slightly thicker than the 10mm gauged tile due to the steel plate.
It is recommended to install when laying the tile to ensure the cutout is the right size as this installs flush with the finished tile. I did not and simply made a cutout 5 1/8 by 11 1/8 and when the tile arrived it fit perfectly with space for grout-colored caulk. (I used a scrap piece of plywood cut to 5 1/8 x11 1/8 with masking tape on the edges as a spacer during the install) HOWEVER this vent is slightly thicker than a single tile as it has steel plate bonded to it and there is an additional steel plate (diffuser/damper) that goes beneath it. In my case, I did not allow for the added height of the diffuser/damper plate and omitted it during install. The damper feature of this plate is a set-it-and-forget-it affair and is not adjustable after installation. You basically bend the plate to restrict the airflow a desired amount, without it you get unrestricted airflow.
I will definitely use Made2Match again when I tile the kitchen and bathroom as I HATE the speed-bump style plastic floor vents I have everywhere. The cost is only slightly more than plastic registers and install takes a little bit of time and skill to make sure the cuts are clean as you will see them if they are sloppy, but the result is worth it.
